Time lapse between mixing dough, letting it rise ?

If I make my challah dough and
Let it rise in fridge, what is the longest time I can let it be in fridge before I braid them & bake?

I've read that you can let it be in the fridge up to 24 hrs.
I usually braid after about 12-14 hours in the fridge and it comes out YUM!
