Hi,
I recently went through a divorce, have kids, and really need a car. If anyone has an older but reliable small car they're not using or knows someone who does, would you consider giving it away or lending it to me? I'm in the Tri-State area but willing to drive further if it's within a reasonable distance. I would be incredibly grateful for any help!!

Not going to be easy to find a stranger to gift or lend you a car. Your best bet is going to be friends or relatives who may have a car they aren’t using or can spare for a time. Otherwise you may have to budget for a cheap used car.

I wonder if you could buy a used car off one of the car donation organizations like Kars4Kids. They typically sell them for relatively little to resale places.

op cars can be very expensive we go to our local mechanic who knows people selling and sells to us for very cheap they are older cars like 10 to 12 years old. our mechanic inspects them and takes care of them for us so they last a while bh. Perhaps you can try your local car mechanic . .. .

We’ve had success buying cheap (under 5k) through our mechanic- he knows who’s ready to get rid of an old car. And then we run them into the ground and sell for scrap.

Just be aware that an older car can be a money pit. Plus insurance may be more as it doesn't have as many safety features.

Insurance I checked a long time ago, from what I remember it wasn't a problem. Will look into it again tnx
