Is it the norm to get a salary raise every year?

What field are you in? What type of company do you work for - a frum small business or a corporate nonjewish business? It varies a lot.

In the States, it's usually standard to give a COL raise of 2-4%, which does not keep up with actual COL. That does not mean every employer does this. I work two jobs; my full time job (not a frum work place) gives the annual COL raise, my other job (frum) refused to give me any raise after 10 years and I recently accepted a different part time job where the pay and raise structure was transparent.

In large publicly held corporations, my experience has been that yes, annual raises are the norm. However, if you're not being promoted, the raise is usually not large, somewhere from 3-4% for average performers.

Sure. I work at a partially public hospital in Israel. Each year I get a raise of approximately one shekel more per hour.

Dh works for a frum large company and gets raises every year. It’s a very formal process which is nice that he doesn’t have to ask for it but there’s no room for negotiation. I work for a non Jewish company and have gotten a very small official raise once or twice in many years but in that time I have asked to cut my hours for a smaller than proportional paycut so that is a nice raise when you look at the new hourly rate.

We get 3-5% per year based on our performance. There is a performance review. Once we get a final score it gets calculated to determine the raise. If you score low there is no raise.

Like 3-5 score determines increase. Under 3 no increase. With 3 meeting all goals. 4 exceeding goals. 5 making the company a major win.

Larger raises either come with promotion or if we ask for more. (Which I do every few years)

I work in a Jewish school and unfortunately we do not get raises every year. My husband is an actuary and he gets a raise and a bonus every year.

I work in a school that doesn’t give raises every year. This year they raised me by a dollar a class- which amounts to basically nothing.
