We are going on vacation and I am thinking of making my challah by hand. I will have to yo mix and knead in a bowl, since the only kosher surfaces will be foiled.
Anyone know how big a bowl, in terms of gallons or inches, I need for 5 pounds?

At least 8 qt bowl. 10 qt is better.
I let the dough rise on table or counter covered by plastic wrap.

I use a 16 quart bowl. I like to have lots of room to work with.

Make sure to always pick one thats smaller than you need so you can get the flour all over the table and floor. It's the rules.
