Currently using a 3 qt but I need to replace. It is plenty of food for us but the liquid overflows and burns the bottom of the crock pot. I am going to size up, the question is if a 4.5 qt is too big and my food will dry out if I don’t add tons of water?
Do I need a 4 qt?
I see Hamilton beach has a 4 qt, crock pot only has a 4.5 qt

4 quart sounds good. How many are you serving? It's fine to go to 5 quart if 4 quart is too small.

Also wondering. My kids eat cholent all Shabbos plus o put a small Kugel inside. Should I go for a 4.5?

There's not a huge difference between 4 qt and 4.5 qt- you can get any
If you see that you need to adjust liquid slightly, you can do so the next week and then be set from there
