We’re seasoned road trippers but getting tired of the usual entertainment. We have a DVD player that the kids take turns with and we had a tablet but it never worked great and isn’t worth the frustration.
I especially need suggestions for my 9-month-old who doesn’t like the car very much…
Kids are 6-16 years old. Any good ideas? TIA!

My kids can color in the car for hours
Water wow (they might be too old)
Easy crossword puzzles, sudoku
Card games if they’ll play together
We play podcasts that are interesting to them
We do long long trips with no dvd and manage bh!!
9 month old is hard!!!

videos have always been the best, my kids always complained that travel bingo, books, boogie boards make them nauseous. (basically any in car writing/reading activity) the talking games have worked well like ' I went on a trip and I took along ___' and each person adds their own while having to repeat what all the others said. looking out the window to find interesting cars, license plates also works for a time. if you have a stash of small nosh you can make a game out of it like first person to spot a black lexus gets a taffy... I just usually find these games exhausting to be head of but if your 16 yr old is the type..hire him/her to be 'counselor' for an hour with these kind of games for the younger kids. for the 9 month old, someone once told me she gives them a box of bandaids to play with (they open each one, peel it stick it all over the carseat and window) and it actually takes very long to play with and is easy to clean up.

I'm bumping up your thread because I'd like ideas too! Similar situation... We always head a DVD player in the car, but not this time.
