Looking for cheap ideas to keep a toddler entertained on a flight. Nothing expensive or bulky. 2 year old so can't really color yet. Won't sit long for a book and I can't bring enough of them anyways to last too long.
Went to dollar store and found cheap playdoh. Wondering if maybe that will work?

I don’t think play dough would be a good idea on a flight as it tends to crumble and it will just get get stuck to all your stuff.

2 years old is a great age for coloring!

There are also lots of water coloring and color free markers activities from Melissa & Doug. Google them.

Get him a new car or doll.

There are many such threads here with great ideas, do a search.

ETA: regarding a book Melissa and Doug has the poke a dot books that are interactive and fun. The rectanglur ones are pretty heavy though. The square ones are fine though. This can entertain for a while and my kids loved them.

2 yr olds should be loving colouring.
If you give them a colouring book it will keep them even busier turning to the next page when their 2 mins attention span ends.
stickers to add to it will keep them entertained for longer.

My kids loved gel window stickers in the plane

Water coloring is also a favorite

I also take along a tiny bottle of bubbles for the airport, while waiting to board or on long lines.

The best thing to do is fill up a little backpack with dollar store toys and healthy snacks and let the kid have their own backpack. They feel big and they can choose whatever they want to entertain themselves.

Toy ideas: (buy very cheap so it shouldn’t be a bother if it gets lost)
Dishes set
Small doll or stuffed animal
Cheap plastic mentchie (figurine)
Squishy toys and balls
Pop its
Cheap small cars and trucks
Small coloring book with small pack of cheap crayons
Small box with lid (for toddlers it’s fun, you can hide things in it and “discover” it…)
