Include:
- the dollar amount of food
- number of people in your household
- state/area you reside in

I’ve been curious about this and thought it would be interesting to ask, gotta love inflation!

Please teach me your ways. I have the same family size in Lakewood and spend much more.

Are you buying very little produce? Do you go away for Shabbos a lot?

I mainly buy produce at Aldi - it’s dirt cheap! Have you been?

I go away one or two Shabbosim a month. When I’m home, we have salmon, challah, homemade dips, and chicken soup for the night meal. Day meal - salmon, challah, homemade dips and cholent. It doesn’t come out expensive at all. You can buy salmon at Aldi for cheap - many (all?) rabbanim consider it kosher.

Dinner each night is 1 pound of chicken or ground beef with cheap sides like rice, pasta, roasted veggies.

We get target brand water bottles, I consider Poland spring to be designer water lol.

My toddler lives on bananas, blueberries, and fruit packets from Aldi. They’re all really cheap.

TY

At one point I did buy produce at Aldi but didn't like the quality of some of the fruits and veggies.

Maybe I should try again.

How much is salmon at Aldi?

Food only family of 7 Midwest around 400 a week. I budget separately for paper products.

Caveats: due to some health issues I get some help with Shabbos food from bikkur cholim and have a few friends who like to give me leftovers so could be an extra 100 a week if I took no help.

The fact that you go away an average of 1/3 of Shabbasim a month is probably a big reason why your bill is so low.

Including eating out an average of once a month in a high end place, six kids including one infant that just started eating and two adults in the Lakewood area- $4.5- 5000.00. This also includes the month of yt, this is an average of over the year.

We also host about once a month, usually a family.
