Was reading through the thread about whether people who live in Israel miss America and cab drivers kept coming up...
I thought this might be fun! Feel free to share some cute (positive only!) stories that happened in cabs in Israel Smile

I love this idea Smile There was a Mishpacha yontif collection about taxi drivers and it was really great.

I once took a taxi to the dentist and I told him where I was headed. He gave me a whole dvar torah about how we get cavities if we don't brush our teeth, and that's a mashal to Hashem, how He has to punish us if we don't do the right thing... This from a guy with no kippah (IIRC)!

Another time my husband and I took a taxi to a restaurant with the youngest of our 4 kids (the rest were in gan so we went out to eat in the morning). He goes, 'How long are you living in Israel, 2 years?' And I was like, 'Actually it's more than 5!' He goes 'Kol hakavod! Wow, you're the real thing!'
I was flattered that he thought we were younger than we are lol
And also proud that we didn't just come for a quick year or 2!

I had a similar story! Was in Seminary in 2020 and right when corona hit, my cab driver asked me when I was flying home. I told him I'm not cuz there's nowhere I'd rather be than EY and he pulled over to tell me how us americans don't take israel for granted and the born and bred israelis should learn from us.

I was once taking a cab to a date. The driver asked me why I was going to whatever place we were meeting at. I said I have a date. He gave me a whole talk about what are the most important qualities I should be looking for and make sure the guy is nice, has good middot, etc.
I felt like my beloved uncle was driving me! Was so sweet, especially since I was living here alone with no immediate family.

Every driver who heard I was an olah chadasha also had a whole speech for me, how brave I was, they couldn't believe I made aliyah alone....

In 2014 I was in a cab during the time when the 3 boys were missing. I think it was Erev Shabbat and the driver gave me a whole dvar torah and assured me that the IDF was going to find the boys. I was crying. It was beautiful.

Now that I have had a car for many years I do sometimes miss those cab drivers....

Recently went back home with a Tesla cab. We started speaking and he gave a Dvar Torah on how he is so much happier in a Tesla (which needs breaks to recharge) since if anyways Hashem destined how much he is going to earn on Rosh Hashana, he doesn’t feel the need to stress about the breaks and less work, and we all need to work on our bitachon. He said if Hashem is providing for a simple bird so how much more so for us. He went on and noted the nes galuy of the recent Iranian missile attack and no one being hurt and how important it is to rely only on Hashem.
