This!! My only complaint about such a situation. I can understand if it's the first few days of the sale and inventory is moving fast. But past season winter clothes at this point should have a pretty accurate inventory. If it's something that is happening continually it's very wrong of the store.

Stores do call when a full priced item is out of stock. Most websites have a disclaimer about on sale items. They can't be busy with sale items during busy season & it says in the disclaimer that sale items may be out of stock even if it says in stock on the website.
It’s 2024. They can spend the money to have their inventory auto update. I’m not buying the excuses. It’s ridiculous.

I think it happens the most when there's a brick and mortar store having a sale at the same time and between you ordering and them taking it off the shelf/rack, an in person shopper buys the item.

Not that it's not frustrating. I've had this too where partial orders were sent that were not helpful at all.... Shirt without the matching skirt (or worse, the opposite!)
Tried to get matching dresses and only some sent (I'm not makpid on matching at least but if I find a good price, I like to give my girls the option)

I found a cute weekday outfit marked down from AW 2023 for my kids this upcoming season. Ordered it in 2 sizes for 2 children and then the baby set for my baby to match. I get an email that my order was updated followed by an email that my order shipped. I didn’t even open them, it’s for the winter so whenever it comes it’s just going away in a closet for a while. Well it came on Shabbos and I opened the package MS (tonight). To my surprise, only 2 items came and the 3rd is crossed off on the shipping slip. I check the emails and the ‘order update’ email informs me that one of the items was cancelled.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH COMPANY?!?!
How stupid can you get? It was 3 matching items. Hello! Check with me before you send me a partial order! You obviously have my email and you asked for my phone number before completing the transaction! I don’t want/need it without all the pieces 🤯🤬 Banging head

I had the same thing happen to me twice. It was extremely frustrating because I rarely splurge on matching items.

ETA I wasn’t specifically notified, I saw it was crossed off on the receipt once I received the package. I emailed the company and they said there will be a refund for the missing item. But that’s not helpful…

No brick and mortar store has last year winter inventory on their shelves so that excuse isn't valid either.

I wonder if we all mention the store we're referring to they might start doing something about their inventory accuracy. I'm suspecting we're all talking about the same store.

Responding to this as someone who works for a clothing brand. Generally, our system is pretty accurate, however when we have major sales we get hundreds of orders daily. With that volume, sometimes our inventory doesn't get updated right away and our system will allow 2 people to purchase the same item. Also when fulfilling so many orders at a time, pieces sometimes get placed on the wrong shelf. When the next order is fulfilled an item that we legitimately have in stock cannot be found.
We do try to reach out to customers when an item it out of stock, but im just trying to explain why it happens that things you ordered end up being out of stock.

Gotcha, do you allow them to return their order now that it wasn't complete and they want all the items, or nothing? If not, that wouldn't be fair imo.

I understand when there's a big sale it can happen but someone ordering past winter clothing now shouldn't come across such an issue. Am I correct?

We usually do or we try to compensate in other ways like helping them locate it at a different retailer.

True. We usually try to do a manual count and update our inventory before we have a big sale in order to avoid this, but it still doesn't help when a few people are checking out at the exact same time.

Wow that is the sweetest offer!!

It’s this outfit

https://teelashop.com/products.....k-set

But I found it for under $20 and didn’t have to pay shipping because the site offered free once above a threshold.

36 months or would consider 24 month if they give measurements for the leggings so I can reasonably assume he won’t grow out of them before chanuka.

So I have an update. After not being able to talk to the store for quite a while (Shabbos then Sunday then Labor Day) I finally got through to customer service. She told me she saw my email requesting a return of the rest of the items that came and was waiting to search the warehouse to see if she could locate the cancelled item, and would get back to me. I waited 2 more days and then emailed to request an update. I got a quick response that she didn’t have time yet. The next day I got an email saying she located the item from my original order and was sending me a link to pay for it and she will ship it out. Yippee!! What awesome customer service 👏

I’m not sure she should apologize, and she didn’t rip anyone to shreds. And she gave an update praising them in the end, I think that’s sufficient

Did you see the update? Op I think you should post the update as an edit to your original post for the people that read just your op and walk away thinking bad about frum stores.

Nothing in ber original post was disproven or wrong.

She shouldn't have had to agonize over the outfit and post on here and worry about money wasted and spend time trying to find something matching for the other kid...only to wait several days for customer service to get back to her...only to tell her that it was yet again their mistake and they did in fact have the item she originally ordered (and this all should have been avoided) and she can pay and get it now. (Paying shipping again?)

That's way too much stress for a system that apparently doesn't have people searching properly before they decided the item is out of stock, or a system that doesn't update stock.
