I don't understand why a bachur's mind should be filled with thoughts of pregnancies. What are they supposed to think about when they're in Yeshiva? They should be focusing on Torah. While a simcha is very exciting, I think it's not appropriate for a bachur in Yeshiva to be constantly thinking about upcoming celebrations. I know someone who is having her first baby after 10 years, and it seems like someone spread the news in Yeshiva. Now all the bachurim are talking about this couple and they know she's due in three months. Do we want the discussions among the bachurim to revolve around pregnancies and childbirth?

I think it's better to wait and tell them a month before if you think they might be hurt or shocked.
My mother had a baby and she didn't tell the bachurim. She thought they already knew, but it turned out they didn't. Nothing negative happened, and they were very excited when they found out.
