Dd 13 has a certain taste, and doesn't go for everything just cuz it's in style, so sometimes we end up with one shabbos outfit for the season and are grateful for another handmedown that works, even though she's not happy abt it

We went shopping and found2(!!!) Outfits that could work. They are similar in that they are both separates, sweaters and skirts. I'm thinking that maybe they're too similar even though different colors and styles and I'd try to get skirts in different styles.

I'm wondering if I should hold off on one and see if I can find something more different for the second outfit, like a set or maybe Even a dress though it may be impossible to find and we might get left with only one...

Thoughts?

I'd get them both if that's what she likes. I think it's great that she knows what she likes. Unless you need something different for an upcoming wedding/simcha.

I told her I'm so happy that she found 2 ( !!!) that she liked and I'm happy to get them for her.
And I really am.

But now im.thinking to myself that maybe it's silly to have 2 very aimilar styled outfits for the season. I don't plan on getting her more until things are on sale.

I'm afraid to tell her my thoughts cuz it will make her feel down and cause her self doubt. she's very much "whatever you say, ma."

The outfits aren't perfect, we have to order some of the pieces in different sizes and hope they fit and the stores still have them.

As of now, no simcha scheduled... I feel like we'll buy for that if and when it comes. Like if my sister gets engaged, we can buy a long dress then. Or maybe would just wear a gown...

My dd 13 is similar. for the summer she got similar cardigans with coordinating skirts. I knew it was her style but still tried encouraging her to get something diff.
In the end we got it and she was thrilled. For her they were diff enough.

I’m happy that she is able to make decisions and happy with what she wants.

She's old enough to decide which outfits she wants to wear.

I would be very happy if DD, at 13, finds two things she likes right away, even if they're similar!

Unless they are prohibitively expensive or you’re concerned she might change her mind and require something different in the future, I would suggest going for it.

I don't see the problem. If I see something I like, you better believe I'm getting all the colors. Even if it's too similar.

Yeah you’re overthinking it.
Just buy it and let her use it in good health.
Chances are by next season she’ll be sick of this style and opt for something totally different. Or it’s possible she’ll discover that she’s found her signature style for life, also a good thing.

Same here and see no point in looking for other things if she only likes one cut and one look. Waste of time and money

I was like you once, thinking I have to buy “different” types of outfits.
But what I was actually wearing was similar things, and now if I find something I like, I get it in 2 different colors even if it’s similar, because this is what I will enjoy,

If you like trendy things then you’ll often end up with similar styles per season.
I’m thinking now how one season I had several slip dresses with cropped tops. Another season I had a few matching sets - pleated printed skirts with same print tops. It happens quite often. I don’t mind, I enjoy each piece.

I don’t see the problem if they’re different colors and designs. This age most wears skirts and tops/cardigans. Don’t overthink it.

I say go for it!
At 13 the lesser said the better.
She looked them. You say they are different colors and styles. That's different enough. Don't overthink.
She should wear it and outgrow it in good health.
