On 18 from McDonald to ocean is usually a standstill during those hours. Traffic backed up…
I know ave j is also bad because it took my bus about 10 minutes at least to get from j east 3 to 18 and ocean. (I would hear on the bus gps)
Sounded like on ave j it would take a few lights to get to ocean pkwy. |
..yup I do.
Any time we take other ave at that time definitely standstill much worse.
We don't have to agree on which route is best but we can agree they are all tough

I agree with taking 60th street until bay Pkwy then making a left onto bay Pkwy
And then a left onto ocean Pkwy make a right on ditmas until coney
Or go down 17th or 16th Avenue until ditmas and drive straight down until coney
48th street is only for driving into boro Park not out of it!
I live in Flatbush and drive to boro park all the time

So I personally would just go down 16th all the way to 39th and dahill and be right by ditmas. and then go up to coney. Give yourself a lot of time. I do anything to avoid BP driving after 2:30. |
I would suggest 14th Ave. Yes it's a busy street, but it's a one way street. Drive on 14th Ave till 38 street, from 38 to dahill to ditmas...

47th is awful, going from McDonald to 18th will take 20 minutes, all streets from Lawrence through Foster feed into there... 16th you still have those large schools on 61 and 62 so what I would do is swing down 62nd before 3, straight to Bay Parkway, Instead of going right on J, make a slight left/right down E.4th and make right on Ave Ito avoid the Bay Parkway -> Ocean Parkway jam. either go direct on I to Coney and make the left, or go on Ocean Parkway to Ditmas and make the right up to Coney.
You want to avoid Ditmas btwn Mcdonald and Ocean Parkway, but as long as you're on Ocean Parkway already you're fine. On second thought, I don't recall if you're allowed to make the right onto Ditmas from Ocean Parkway, if that's the case just go up Cortelyou and head to Coney from there...
And for the way back, if you're going to the same place, go down Ditmas and make the turn onto the OCean Parkway service road that goes past Mevakshai Hashem, make the right onto Ave. F, turn left at E.2nd and continue until Foster Ave, make a right then quick left onto E. 3rd until Bay Parkway. Make a right onto Bay Parkway until 63rd, Take half a dozen Tylenol and you're done!
