Different eras of Covid were different situations. A Labor Day bar mitzvah was very very different timing than an erev Pesach bar mitzvah. What you describe is vastly different than what we had (my post above). In addition to the fear and anxiety , and r”l sickness and death , that was part of erev Pesach time 2020.

I guess I wasn’t clear. The actual bar mitzvah was supposed to have taken place right after Pesach. Instead, he leined on zoom and we had a family seuda and dancing with neighbors/friends. The party was later, on Labor Day.

That wasn’t the point of my OP. Wasn’t comparing at all. Not sure why you came to that conclusion.

I understand you because I had the same thing, a bris in the fall of 2020. It was already past the scary days but we still weren’t having big parties (OOT). So we had a bris just with immediate family and it was so much better than having a big event one week after giving birth!

I made a regular brow in may of 2020!!!
The sz was on my neighbors deck. But the brow was pretty normal, we all sat around for hours because no one had anywhere to go

We made a COVID bar mitzvah. It was perfect for this child in particular so it worked out beautifully.

We made child's wedding in a beautiful backyard after postponing it a few times due to illness of immediate family members. My child would not have traded itvfor anything , and I think the other side was just so happy they were getting married. Personally I really enjoyed the intimate celebration as there was no one we has to entertain or make sure they were having a good time. Just enjoyed the chosson kallah and immediate family members. Music was perfect for a backyard vibe and we served boxed meals so people would feel comfortable eating small cocktail tables , just really beautiful simcha!
If we have emunah that everyone gets what they are supposed to have, it makes it easier to accept that the wedding is when, where ,how and who is supposed to be just the way it is!
