My husband got a ticket . He was not using his phone but it was in his hand by the steering wheel as he listened to a voice note as he was pulling out of his spot.
He has a hearing coming up but the cop is no longer on the NYPD employment list.
Does it pay to get a lawyer?
Usually if the cop is a no show they reschedule but here his badge # is no longer active so how can they reschedule?

Usually the ticket gets dismissed if the ticketing officer cannot testify against you.
Consider yourself lucky .

Always push off your tickets as long as possible. I had a ticket which was dismmed because the cop retired.

Reschedule the hearing as many times as possible. If the cop doesn't show up, it's dismissed. If he is no longer a cop - great. If he is, then he will probably get sick of rearranging his calendar and won't come.
