I passed over a few that required direct deposits to earn a bonus because I didn't want to mess with my existing direct deposit setup at the time. But now I need to set up a new direct deposit so I may as well do it in an account that will give me free money. Can anyone recommend?

Thanks! I don't qualify because I already have a Chase account but maybe that will be helpful to someone else.

Google turned up the following possibilities, wondering if anyone has experience with them:

Huntington perks (400 after 90 days and direct deposit)

Fifth third (375 after 500 in direct deposit)

Citizens (300 for checking with direct deposit and 100 more if you open savings at same time and deposit 100 monthly for 3 months)

Need to look into whether they have fees and if other people had ok experience with them.

All the ones I've seen do. I think I saw some that just require you to maintain a high balance, which I can't commit to.

Ok this is from Huntington. Meh.
"no monthly maintenance fee when you make $1,000 in total monthly deposits or keep $5,000 in total relationship balances. Otherwise $10 a month"
I mean not crazy but it's a little string attached.

Fifth third says it's free with no minimum balance

Citizens:
Monthly maintenance fee is $0.00 or $9.99 for One Deposit Checking and $4.99 for One Deposit Savings
Waive the monthly maintenance fee when you make one deposit to each account during each statement period.
FOR ONE DEPOSIT SAVINGS ONLY: You may also maintain a $200 minimum daily balance to waive the monthly maintenance fee. No monthly maintenance fee while you’re under 25 or over 65.

I'm thinking it's probably worth going with fifth third because even though there's $25 less bonus, I also won't be at risk of forgetting to babysit the account and do all the things and avoid all the fees. Get your direct deposit, collect bonus, and either shut down or sit on it while you're anyway not paying anything.

I've gotten offers from TD in the past. I wonder if they have anything ongoing now.
