Hi all,
We are part of a chasidis in bp where English is mostly spoken by all, including the boys.
We would love for our children to learn to speak a good heimishe yiddish ...
Are there programs after school or on Sundays for elementary age boys,
As well as elementary age girls programs where they either teach yiddish, or have after curricular activities in yiddish where the kids can pick it up well.

Thanks for any suggestions

For girls you can sign then up for any Yiddish speaking group such as art, baking etc. She will naturally learn Yiddish. For toddlers you could send to Yiddish speaking playgroup. Toddlers learn really fast. Small non professional groups are probably best for you.

I would suggest you buy the Yiddish videos like the Interen plays. They could learn so much and have fun at the same time.

I'm not sure how well that will work. Most girls Naturally start talking English together. And even boys if they pick up your child speaks English the bi lingual speakers will gravitate and speak English

Send your kids to Yiddish speaking playgroups.

Send your kids to a Yiddish speaking daycamps-a neutral day camp. Together with a neighbor if possible. Girls are easier to send. It's easier to stick to the dress code. Maybe put on tights if she doesn't wear.

These suggestions will make your kids fluent speakers.

They could also pick up Yiddish from kids stories and music. But I would stick to little kid cd's where they are still focusing on basic concepts. Not iterin plays. Mitzvah kinder/kindergarten has a pesach DVD.
