What kind of coat do I get for my 10 month old for the winter? We live in Monsey. We would be going in and out of cars and occasionally taking walks too.
Pretty much everything I see online is polyester. My mother always taught me to buy down coats but I don’t see that for babies.
I found some cute stuff on H&M but don’t know if it’ll be warm enough…

You definitely don’t need down for in and out of cars and occasional walks. Reminder that baby can’t wear. A puffer like this in the car though

Those look fine, with a blanket for the feet

Down is not a must.

Thanks for the responses. What do I put on my baby when I take him to and from the car? Just a sweater and blanket?

I often do a hat and snuggled in blanket. Or hat and jacket backwards for the run to car

Haha the jacket backwards is a cute idea. Thanks!

Besides the sweater/hat/blanket, which I do also, I have a fleece full body one piece that works in carseats and outside well. Great for babies!

My babies don't wear a coat. They wear a thick sweater & hat. When we're out on the street in the stroller, they're in a warm footmuff/bunting.

This really depends on the weather and where you are

So I got a down winter coat on sale
And for in and out of the car I’m using a warm hat, sweater, and a thick blanket
They get very hot in the Doona and I don’t want baby to overheat. If it’s freezing out maybe I’d put the coat

I try to do that too, once the child can wear it for 2 years. (shhh I've even spent full price).
Babies in cars and carriages don't need it. Like the others said. Add a footmuff or blanket when walking. You want be outside with the baby anyway for hours if it is in the teens or below.
