Its ok?

I bought salmon this morning from supermarket.

Its vaccum packed but came from the fridge.

Came back from work and realised its been out for 7 hours.
It was in the bag I had bought it in my house.
Not particularly cold or warm.

How do I know if it will be ok?
Was only planning to make it tomo so dont want to open...

Thanks a lot.

Room temperature from the fridge for 7 hours? The most I would do is 2 for raw fish. If it was frozen I would say if it was cold still its ok.

Sorry, but that’s a food safety risk.

Sometimes things that are vacuum packed have a longer shelf life, I’d suggest more research.

I would use it. I’ve done it before. We’re all fine.

This is such terrible advice. It has a super high chance of causing food poisoning, which is a horrible illness many are hospitalized for. It’s like saying I ran across the highway and survived so you should do it too because we are fine.

I took it out on friday and smelled it.
Didnt smell good so I chucked it

Bought new one and served it to my husband on shabbos.
I kidded that it was the one I left out.
He was tote fine with that.

Then I told him I bought new, abd he wasnt happy lol.
He claims he worked for a caterer and it would have been totally fine. Oh yeah...
Thanks guys!

Well, you did the right thing. Better safe than sorry, especially if it smelled already bad. If your dh had gotten food poisoning, I'm sure he wouldn't have been happy, either.
