So happy I don't live in a larger community

It's bat mitzvah season for my daughter and her very close friend is having hers at a gorgeous place - the kind of place I'd like my daughter to get married at. And at that price point, the linens, and servers, and gourmet food and a planner comes with it all. They're basically just showing up.

And my home is like an amazon pit of pink stuff right now and I'm so overwhelmed. So many details. And in theory we could have afford such a thing, too, but I just can't spend that kind of money on a 12 yr old. Not when we have so many other expenses, not when there's so much need out there, not when 75% of her peers have their simcha at home or the school.

But I'm envious that the other girl's mom is not really doing much at all, she is not exhausted right now and her party will be simply stunning.

Thank g-d I live where I do, so this kind of stuff comes up quite infrequently. But why oh why are my daughter's closest friends the fanciest in the whole community?

Just a vent. Trying to feel confident in my decision to do the more low-key route and save the over the top for the future, g-d willing
