Looking for new ideas. Could be for indoor or outdoor and doesn’t have to be for everyone can be just for part of that age range.

Twisted kichels game is such a laugh. I'm not sure about a 5 year old but a great family game that my boys love.

Dance mat, yes boys love them too.

Search on Amazon for cryptic killers murder mystery games.

Unsure about space, interests, or budget but some ideas:
Laser tag set
-Something sport related like a basketball hoop or hockey net?
-Flag set for flag football

Space - I have some space
Budget - A range, I have a bunch of family members who want to buy gifts so can be up to $150-200 but less is fine.
Interests is harder to define, they like sports but they're not into following sports or being very competitive. We have laser tag which they love and a basketball hoop I don't think they're big hockey or football fans. They like reading, board games, science and logic but we have a lot of the go to board games even the expansion packs, we have the national geographic science sets, laser maze type games....
I was hoping there would be something new like the twisted kichels was last year but it doesn't have to be Jewish.

Can you explain what this would need to connect to to work? Do I need a computer with a cd player and internet on to use it?

You don’t need internet. Only to install if you don’t have the cd. If you get the cd installation is a one time thing and you only need the cd player for installation. Ones it’s installed no internet or cd player necessary.

My kids love it. It is out all the time.

I bought mats on Amazon. They are flimsy and break easily. We made a boys project were we mounted it on plywood and vinyl and they are strong and sturdy.

We have two mats which makes it more fun.

So once it’s installed you don’t need the computer logged in either?

No the computer it is installed on doesn’t need to be connected to the internet when using.
You download an install. And install. Not sure how the license code works. Maybe need to be connected just when entering the license.
You can call them to double check if it changed.

For the cd you don’t need to be connected to the internet at all. The cd comes with a code you enter locally.

Gotchya. My boys in that age range are more sports oriented and less game oriented so totally different interests.
Would you use the money toward an experience like a trip or a workshop?

We recently bought a trampoline after adamantly being against it for many years. It has been one of our best purchases ever. My kids ages 2 all the way to 17, boys and girls, can spend hours on it

You sound like me, every year Chanukah I debate if I’m making the right choice not having one but for me it’s not just safety it’s the layout of my backyard.
