Please answer honestly!

I was discussing this with a friend. I don't cover my (gray!) hair, and as a result look older and less glamorous than my besheiteled contemporaries. I maintain they love wearing sheitels, friend (who also doesn't cover) says they hate it!

Hence the poll 😀

It’s a very hard question.
You can not love wearing ur sheitel but just like it more than maintaining your hair (which maybe you don’t like doing/ are bad at/ have no time for)

I hate wearing one because I’m sensory and Sheitels itch and give me a headache though Sheitels are a quick and easy way to get pulled together in the morning.

So I hate wearing one because it’s uncomfortable but I love wearing one because it’s easy to look good.

I have to wear one for work because I teach in a Lubavitch school. I like that I’m automatically dressed and with a full face of makeup I feel confident

Would be nice to wear tichels some days though.

As soon as I get home the first thing I do is I run to my room, take my wig off and my tights and change into a slinky skirt a sweatshirt and a tichel!

Wigs are sooooo uncomfortable. My mood literally shifts and I get calmer and happier as soon as I get home and can dash to my room to pull it off my head. So no, do not love it, would not wear it if I didn’t have to cover my hair.

So you don't cover your hair at all?

I wear a sheital out to work and shop but I wear a tichel whenever I can. I dislike putting on sheitals but it is easier to keep all my hair covered with a sheital than with a tichel

I thought it would be great to have a ready-made hairdo I could just plop on my head. But I found life was easier when I could wash my hair, get it fresh and clean, and just curl it myself as often as I wanted to. My shaitel gets tangled and knotty and I try to maintain the style but it gets worse and worse and before I know it it just looks terrible. But I don't want to have to pay $50 every time I want it to look fresh and nice again! But neither am I as good as doing it myself as the shaitelmachers are. So yeah, I miss when I could just do my hair beautifully as often as I wanted or needed, for free.

Yes, I love wearing sheitels!

My hair is thick and curly so I would need extra maintenance to keep it looking good and be easy to deal with. I love that I can wash my hair whenever I want and not think about needing it done, and you can't beat the convenience of having a sheitel ready in advance. I don't find it too uncomfortable most of the time, though I do usually take them off when I get home if I don't forget. It is more maintenance than I thought it would be, and they don't always stay as perfect as I'd like, but it's still way better than my natural hair.

I think you need to edit the poll to add the following option:

Would you prefer wearing a wig, or maintaining your own hair with cutting/styling/setting etc.

I hate wigs, find them uncomfortable. I wear my fall as much as possible instead of a full wig. At home, first thing that comes off is my wig. But I still wouldn’t leave the house in a tichel. And I also really really would not want to maintain my hair, since my hair is super thin and stringy.

I’d much prefer (best option) for it to be completely socially accepted in my circles to wear tichels when out and about. Including to weddings!💒

I wish I could wear a tichel or other soft covering. I must be honest that me married daughters look stunning in scarves but they won't go out in public with them.

Not often. Shul, chuppah etc...

Mathbrain: you're right! But I don't know how to edit the poll, so I'll let people comment instead!

Do I love it, no. I still miss my hair even after years of marriage.
I cover my hair with a beautiful Sheital and there are times when I'm glad for the convenience of having it and not needing to style my own hair.

It's uncomfortable and comes right off when I get home, but I love it! When I put it on I feel transformed.
Hair is almost never as pretty as a beautiful wig!

I don’t love it. Obviously a tichel is more comfortable, but I’m Lubavitch and wouldn’t leave the house with one. My own hair before my wedding was definitely easier to make look nice, although now that it’s been covered a while I don’t know anymore how easy it would be, haven’t tried.

I do think if I would spend the money on a more expensive higher quality sheitel I would feel and look prettier in it. It’s on my wishlist…

There are completely secular and non Jewish women who wear wigs for aesthetic reasons. Plenty of them, including celebrities. If you think wigs look better then why not go ahead and wear one?

I like how I look in a shaitel but not always how it feels. My natural hair is beautiful beautiful and I cried when I had to cover it but I'm getting a mitzvah for covering it

I never liked my hair and found it such a job to style it. I wouldn’t use the word love for sheitels because it’s not always comfortable and costs more than I’d like but I don’t like the way I look in tichels/snoods so if it’s a choice between my hair, sheitels and tichels it’s 100% sheitels.

At this point I only buy the expensive lace tops. They are really comfortable (and gorgeous)
The cheaper brands give me actual migraines
