Is there anyone who charges a fee to buy Israeli gift certificates for people living in the US to give to Israeli family members, and then sends the certificates to people living in Israel? We almost had an issue when our US family decided to "surprise" us with Toys R US gift certificates, because we told them we had Toys R US here. My MIL only told us because she wanted us to be looking for them in the mail. I told her that Toys R US wouldn't accept the US $ gift certificates here, and not to waste thir money. We've also told them to stop mailing gifts/clothing because of the new taxes we'd have to pay on items $50 or more. But MIL is upset because she likes giving gifts as a surprise.

I haven't heard of that, but it sounds like it could be a good business to start.

They were sending checks. But with the poor $ exchange rate, the poor mail delivery and lost mail, and having to go to the bank and deposit them, that was not worth it. Right now, we've asked them to send one check for the whole year, and to have the funds sent to our US account. But they actually like to give presents, too.

Have them give you a credit card and let you know how much you can use on it. Great gift.
