I know one Tirtza, one Kalev.

Do you know anybody named Osnas? Elkana? Boaz?

do you know people with uncommon BIBLICAL (Tanach) names? like what?

I also know someone named Chavatzelet which is a word in Shir Ha'Shirim, but it's not a Biblical NAME.

asahel, serach, boaz, chagai,

the one that takes the cake though is in sem on a bus we heard a mother calling - okay a lot of years have passed it was either nebuchadnetzar or nimrod!

side point motek, a lot of uncommon names are quite common today among israeli's.

I could almost figure out who a girl is by her name. If she is Breindy, she must be from the _____family. If she is Silka she must be from the ___family. My 5 yr old tells me the names of the kids in her class and I like figuring out who they are. So many people here are related, and everyone gives names after family.

I was at Wal-Mart one day, and from the next aisle I hear a mother telling her daughter "___don't touch that" I knew it was a cousin just by the name.

Well...Omri, Hagar.

My cousin is married to someone named Boaz. They had a son on Shavuos and named him Oved.

My aunt's name was Tirtza and she has a few grandchildren and greatgrandchildren named after her. Tirtza is not such an unusual name, though - I know a few others besides my relatives.

There is a dayan on the Belzer Bais Din named Shammai Kehas. That's pretty unusual, I would think.

I had a friend in sem who had a cousin named hagar. It bothered my friend so much that her aunt didn't see a problem with the name.
