I really want to visit family that live overseas whom I haven't seen for a few years. We've saved up money and even had some extra money returned to us that we didn't expect. Question is, in this economy, we are nervous to spend. We are trying to save as much as we can so that if DH gets fired or whatever, we would have what to live on hopefully. How does one make this decision? If we had a simcha or a tragedy CV"S, we'd leave in an instant. How long can I wait before seeing family that I really miss? Is it wasting money?

Can you go but spend the least amount possible? Like stay by family and don't really eat out, and do research on the cheapest tickets etc..

We have the same issue. I vote for just go. Things are tight now, but you know what they say, we can only plan so much.
