Oooh, that is such a great idea, I would totally appreciate it and do it if I knew how to make sushi. Wow! I wish I knew you in real life!

I said on the other thread that I eat homemade things depending on how they look, but sushi I'd throw out immediately.

I got the cutest "sushi" last yr. I think it was made of peanut chew mixture (for the rice), coated in chocolate for the nori. Instead were some sour sticks and other candies to look like vegetables. It actually tasted delicious, too and looked really effective. And I didn't have to worry about smoked salmon/fresh tuna sitting out of the fridge all day

My sil makes this with rice krispie treat mixture and fruit by the foot for the nori and some other candy in the center.

Sake, green tea, pickled ginger.

Japanese rice crackers, artfully cut vegetables.

A sushi-making kit with sushi mat and paddle.

Are you making real sushi? It doesn't keep well -- be very careful with storage.

fish,

no puns intended but hope you're not using fish in the sushi, because of
food safety concern as others mentioned. OK if you are making them and
delivering within 30min, but any longer than that I would use vegetable sushi.
(You can use fresh or roasted peppers and cucumbers. Probably not avocado
as they turn colour.)

You can also use wasabi coated peas or rice crackers.
fortune cookies are more chinese than japanese.

Years ago someone delivered sushi to us for Mishloach Manos and my father warmed it up in the microwave and took a bite, and spat it out. GAG! We had no clue what it was. Going back about 12 years.

LOL My dad would probably still do the same.

I think I agree with Cassandra - I'm not sure I'd eat it. But you have to know your friends who you're giving to.
