I took out my daughter since she was 6 days old. however, if you want to avoid strangers poking their heads into the stroller to take a peek, a good idea is to pop the baby into a carrier on your chest and then cover with a blanket. (which is good for the baby if it's cold by you anyway.) this way, people will get that it's a newborn you're with and they should lay off.
