Does anyone have a recipe for home made tomato sauce? We are away for Pesach and none of the stores have tomato sauce (not that my mother would eat ready tomato sauce anyway!)

this isnt ans exact recipe adjust as you like
heat 1-2 tbsp oil in a pot
add 1 chopped onion
saute 1 min then add 2 chopped garlic- u can omit if u dont use pesach
continue sauteing till translucent
add 1 lg can tomatoe sauce
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
cook on low flame 30 min then add
2 tbsp potatoe starch dissolved in
1/2 cup water and 1 tsp soup mix
continue cooking till thickened.
taste and adjust seasoning.
I like to substitue red wine for the soup and water it adds a really nice flavour. use something thats not to sweet, or use 1/4 c water and 1/4 c wine

Basically...
Fill a large (3 to 4 quart) saucepan with diced fresh, peeled, tomatoes, using enough tomatoes to almost fill pot. Boil over medium heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Add:
Several cloves, diced fresh garlic (I am sure you can use onion if you don't use garlic)
pinches of oregano and marjoram (optional I am sure, if you do not use spices)
1/2 c. red wine
Salt and pepper to taste
Good luck.
