Last year I got a shaitel without ear tabs. (I figured it would fit better with my glasses.) Ok, I ordered online, so no, I didn't try on before hand. Here is my question. I have a low hair line, and when the wind blows, you can see my hair showing at the sides, right above my ears. I rarely wear this shaitel, as I feel it does not fit right.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does your shaitel not cover your hair line? Is there anything I can do short of shaving my head completely bald (which my husband doesn't want me to do)??? It is driving me nuts that I can't wear this shaitel.

I spoke with my shaitel macher in Baltimore (a three hour trip), and she didn't seem to think it was so easy to build up the side.

Yes, but my hair still shows. I have been trying to stretch it out.

Maybe wear it in a style that doesn't allow you hair to show?
Like pin it back into a half pony, and then pull some shaitel hair to make it looser around the hairline?
That way your hairline won't show, even when the wind blows.
I wish I had better advice for you!

(Btw, shaving your hair won't solve the problem. It will look worse when you see little stubble at the hairline Smile )

You could wear a headband over it to cover that bit near your ears.

AFAIK, the sideburns are not considered erva and while I usually do cover mine, I wouldn't mind too much if they showed for a bit in the wind unless I worked in a wind tunnel and it'd be a continuous thing.

I don't see how you can show the part of the head that formerly had hair. That's how we know what part of the head to cover.
