My friend shared an interesting story with me recently. Her son's Rebbe called her and told her that he asked all the students to raise their right hand. All but one child raised it. When the child was asked why he didnt raise his hand, he responded that he has no right hand, his mom always tells him he has two left hands. The mother never realized what an impact a comment like that left on this young child.
This really made me think....
gotta watch how we talk to and about our children.

I completely agree...I said one day that someone was acting "nuts" and my 3 year said "so-and-so (she used the name) isn't nuts!
I have a friend who uses inappropriate words (if you get what I'm saying!) around her children. Her kids will surely begin to repeat them

not only that but saying "you drive me crazy" or "I dont want to see you" or " You can never do anything right" REALLY REALLY affect a child in a negative way! so yes, we need to be very craeful to speak positively to our children!

Never tell a child who is misbehaving that they are a "bad girl" or a "bad boy" Say instead 'hitting your brother is bad" or"throwing food is bad" Better stiil, say"be nice to your brother" or "please keep your food"on your plate" try to be positive with little kids. when my daughter was even a year old, I would yell, "Yeah!" and clap my hands if she did something good, even little things. At 8, she is THE BEST helper!

it's cute, although I do get how imp. it is what you say to a child, but it's hard to always be so perfect.

I don't care about anonimus posts, each has their own reason, aslong as it isn't to bash someone, then I think should atleast say it upfront, but here this isn't so, so wtvr each wants, in my opinion.
