My Rabbi told me that it was ok to watch movies at home but not to go out to a movie theatre. He also said not to watch musicals and avoid very humorous movies. That's what I hold by!

Oh yea...thats only for the 3 weeks (I dont watch movies during the 9 days)

Yes at home, no to the theater. Which in my parlance is the difference between "watching" and "seeing" movie.

my husband was told that if there would not be a minyan of men at the movie theater then you can go see a movie at the movie theater so growing up he was allowed to. now living in israel obviously we dont.
but we will watch movies at home.

I once heard someone ask Rav Yehuda Felix, who was the principal and founder of Orot College (most definitely MO), if it is muttar to watch movies in the 3 weeks and he answered:
Watching movies is assur all year round.
