Creating Your Avatar

To distiguish yourself from the many other members on Imamother, it is important to have a unique identity. In addition to have a unique screen name, having an avatar, the little picture next to a member's posts, is an excellent way to distinguish yourself from other posters. It is also a great way to express your individuality.

Note: The directions are assuming that you are using as your image editing software. is a free, internet-based image editor that does not require downloading any software. If you would prefer to use a different image editor you may do so. The directions also assume that your image is saved on your computer.

So let's get started!

Accessing Your Image on

1. Go to and select "Pixlr Editor"Screenshot 1

2. Click on "Open image from computer"Screenshot 2

3. Select the appropriate file from your computerScreenshot 3

Resizing and Saving Your Image

4. Click on the "Image" menu then select "image size" Screenshot 4

5. Resize the image so that the largest size is no more than 80 pixels Screenshot 5

6. Save your image under a new name to avoid permanently reducing the size of your file. For most images it is best to save it as a jpeg since it is a smaller file size that produces a decent quality image Screenshot 6

Note: If you have a partially transparent illustration you will need to save it as a png file to maintain the transparency, but may need to make the image smaller in order for it not to exceed the 6 kb size limitation

Uploading Your Avatar to Your Profile

7. Click on the "Edit Profile" link at the top of the homepage Screenshot 7

8. Toward the bottom of the page you will see a row that says "Upload avatar from your machine". Click the "Browse" button.Screenshot 8

9. Select your file and then press submit. Note: If you get an error message saying that the file size is too big, try reducing the quality of the jpeg in pixlr.comScreenshot 9
