1. They are half yeshivish, half MO.
2. Real Estate prices are among the highest in New Jersey.
2. If you need to get to Manhattan, the nearest train station is one town over in New Brunswick. It is a 20 minute walk from Highland Park.
3. Rents are also pretty high. But they have more apartments than in Edison, which is nearby.

Some of your info is not completely accurate. There is a train station in Edison, which is neighbors to HP, no real difference between the two neighborhoods, one street is Edison, next is HP

Also, real estate is not that high, especially in Edison where real estate taxes are cheaper. The houses are more affordable than Passaic/Clifton neighborhood.

I don't live there but live nearby and use the schools, etc. It's a great town. There are a whole bunch of shuls for different tastes and everyone seems to get along reasonably well. Nice walkable neighborhoods, cute downtown with all the kosher amenities. Very diverse community, probably more than other towns. Property values and taxes are in line with what you find around NJ. The Jewish section of Edison is contiguous with Highland Park and essentially the same community (except for taxes, public services, etc).
