Hello everyone!
We have decided to try out something new. We have placed 2 big ad boxes on the top of each page except for the index and portal pages. We never did this till now b/c we were concerned with annoying our members. But we have now learnt that in order to increase the number of available advertisers from google, willing to advertise on imamother, we must provide this size box.
I know that it will take some time to get used to, but I hope that soon you will be accustomed to the new look so that the ad boxes wont bother you anymore.

We need to do this, so I appreciate your understanding.
thank you in advance,
Yael

Well, the new ads are pretty intrusive, not necessarily because of their size, but because of their loudness and their (so far) not too well-targeted ad content. My brain is starting to get a little dizzy trying to read the posts with all the ads jumping around shouting everywhere.

On the other hand... if it's necessary, then OK. I will try to get used to it. I realize you need to cover your costs.

On the other hand (yes, that would be hand #3), you don't get revenue from the big ads unless people click on them. And if they're not interesting to your audience, people won't click on them (except as a favor to you - and you're not allowed to ask people to do that). So I guess that means you'll have to test it out and see if the big new ads are worth it from both a financial standpoint and from a "customer" satisfaction perspective.

Hatzlacha in any case.

The size of the boxes , I can handle. But I'm bothered by the content of some of these ads. Half-dressed, or make that undressed, scantily clad people, and untznius poses?

I don't know if they appear on everyone's screen.

I'm not wild about the big boxes on the top of the page, as I have a very weak (due to injury) scrolling hand, and this requires extra scrolling constantly. I wish they could be more discreetly placed, maybe on the bottom or side.

On the other hand, I understand the necessity to fund the site.

I think the ads should be carefully monitored for their approprateness on a frum website. If they can be placed elsewhere, that would be good, too

You know the ad from coveryourhair.com? That one actually scares me, when the heads turn around and they're these mannequins. Reminds me of a "Twilight Zone," for those of you who watch tv, or used to.

I'm sure they have perfectly lovely products, but I get a little spooked.

Doesn't bother me much, just an extra flick of the finger, nisht geferlich.

Does imamother gain anything if people only 'click' on these ads, or do you also have to make a purchase?

just a click does give us some money... 8)
making a purchase through the google ads doesnt help us though. (thanks anyway) making a purchase through one of our commission ads which are on top and left side does give us commision though.
thanks for all your understanding. we will be trying this out for two weeks or so to see if it will increase our revenue. if there is no diference we'll go back to the old way.
if you see any inappropriate ads please right click on it and copy and paste the url into an email to us so we can block it.
