The video disgusted me. If it was the mother it's just as disgusting. (I speak from firsthand experience; my mother would totally do that.)
But I would hardly call it abusive. Let's not get carried away.

What do you mean your mother would totally do that? Do you prefer the principal over her?

Agree that abuse is to strong, but it definitely felt very violating to me. The girls all seemed to have a sheepish smile on their faces. Like they felt something was wrong , but were to embarrassed to say it.

I meant no matter who is enforcing the rule, it's disgusting. It's so controlling that it will likely send girls to the opposite extreme. Even if it's coming from parents themselves, it's still stifling beyond belief.
My mother is the type to measure her kids' hair for tznius if that would have been the school rule. And I went through a stage where I did not respect even the basics of yiddishkeit because all I was taught was "don't do this, don't do that," and I ended up cracking under the pressure. Boruch hashem I have healthy role models in my life and eventually found my way back.

The girls actually look amused to me not bothered... they find it funny but don't seem to mind.
And as bad as you think this requirement is, it is not a direct violation of Halacha. At most, it's an over ambitious school rule.
The one who took that video however violated many halachos including lashon hora and chillul hashem. I don't envy them

On one hand I agree with you but on the the other hand where I am leaning is where does this end! How far are we going to go, where is this going to lead? Oh maybe to the burkha ladies. You might think I am crazy but I think this is OCD, not tznius, not halacha as the majority hold and not minhag hamakom.

I dunno. Maybe it's a mitzvah to publicize the actions of those who commit redifah. Each child being subjected to this may be considered a nirdaf.

LOL.
So many people freaking out, so many hypocrites. This video is fun and games compared to the hell I got in school about eveything in general and about my hair in particular.
Lakewood does this, everyone yells abuse and writes articles with all the self righteous indignation they could muster. Satmar does much worse for decades, everyone whitewashes their actions by talking about their chessed and then mocking the disillusioned ones for being "bitter."
I'm so over these videos. Anyone who makes the choice to send to these schools deserves such treatment. The schools do it because the parents are meek little sheep. Forgive me if I don't give a darn.

Coming from the school's point of view. you decided to send your child to our school, you will follow the rules. we want a certain type of parent body if you cannot be part of that parent body then pull your kid out and send the child elsewhere

Agree with every word in your last paragraph. I find it more amusing than horrifying if that makes sense.

Oh please. It's not about a certain parent body. It's about power over the helpless, even if they have managed to convince themselves that they do it for god. It's nothing more than a power play.

Every school has a board/vaad/administrator/owner that you are welcome to complain to. If the parent taking the video felt as you did she could take it up with them. Nothing wrong with that. I am not discussing the action in the video or what I think of it. There is nothing wrong with expressing displeasure if it is expressed to the right parties. Sharing on social media is definitely being over on many many issurim. Just something to think about in my opinion

I would definitely ask a rav before paskening like this and publicizing such a video. There are ways of doing things without causing such a widespread chilul hashem

I attended a chasidish school like that. We wore blue or black tights at age three. No short sleeves or pants. I am perfectly normal.
If you send your kid to a school that is leaning towards a more conservative side then you can't expect otherwise.

Explain to me how the fact that you are "normal" is relevant to what I said in that post.

What's this got to do with power trips ?

I never mentioned power.
I will repeat my speech again if you did not understand what I was trying to say. the schools are not looking for power if the woman wants a certain type of education for her son then she has to abide to the rules of the school if not you should pull her kid out before he gets kicked out.
Besides mothers that usually have attitude about the wig situation their kids end up having attitude and school and then the staff does not like a kid like that.
