Mishloach manos is TWO Foods "minim" (same bracha, different bracha no difference) to ONE person.

Matanos L'evyonim is TWO gifts to TWO poor people.

That is usually how it gets confused.

It was confusing, so I rechecked and am posting this for clarification.

That's what I'm working on tonight too.

Last year we started with a salad loosely based on the strawberry feilds salad from kosher by design:

1 bag/head romaine lettuce
1/2 bag spinach
8 oz strawberries, chunked
1/2 red onion, sliced wafer thin

Dressing:

1/2 c honey
1/4 c red wine vinegar
1/4 c warm water
1/2 tsp mustard powder
1/2 oil (we use 1/2 olive, 1/2 safflower)
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

then we had chicken soup loosely based on the classic chicken soup from the (I actually find this quite humorous, lubavich cookbook as called by those not lubavich, purple cookbook as called by those who are lubavich, and called by noone the ) spice and spirit cookbook. just double all the vegetables including the optional ones.

I think we might repeat that start, then we'll have some type of chicken, with 2 sides, okay, its the sides that NEED HELP!

Dessert noone really wants anyway, or can eat the stash of junk gotten, or at most parve ice cream, somebody have great idea for sides?
trying to keep the meal on the lighter and healthier side Help

Stuffed cabbage, can't have a Purim seudah without it!

Hamentaschen for dessert, for those who are still interested? Ice cream?

kreplach!! (if you live somewhere that you can get the dough, they're real simple to make.)

at home we always had the usual.

fish and salads
soup with kreplach
chicken/meat/stuffed cabbage(which you can freeze in advance and just put into the oven to rewarm b4meal.)

with sides: orzo with veg, rice, mashed potatoes, veggies etc...

one year, when I had a lot of guests, I make the unstuffed cabbage from kosher by design. tasted like stuffed cabbage, but with out the work.

for dessert, just put up hot water, and serve tea with hamentashin, or buy sorbet.

This should get a few of you with raised eyebrows !

We decided as it is one of the few chagim we can drive and get to family that we would meet my brother and his family somewhere between his house and ours and have a barbeque Purim Seuda.

If it is bad weather we will move it indoors to one of our houses, He lives about an hour and a half away, and we dont se eye to eye on halacha/hashgacha. So this is one way to solve the problem

I personally think this whole Shalach Manos business ahs gotten way out of hand, especially here in the HY area! I used to go with the craze, but NO MORE! I stopped the insanity! I make 'em as simple as possible, not more than I absolutely have to, anyone decides to surprise me, TY very much, but sorry I may not have one left for you, or if I do it might be a "recycled" one.

I used to waste my time with fancy baskets, and every single time I ended up with a headache or a backache by the time I was done.

so far I have the grandparents (2) mum (1) DH, DS and me (3) and I've invited a family of 4 but they havent confirmed if theyre coming yet.
I will only be making food that I can prepare a day or 2 b4 cos I want 2 be able 2 enjoy the day of purim without stressing out over the seuda.
