observer, it's 2 names.
With a hey -- diminutive of Rivka.
With an aleph -- Aramaic, meaning little girl.

Ahh, ok, that makes sense.
And it definitely does NOT mean fight according to anyone!

Professor Beider finds that Riva comes from Rivka, and davka was deemed more proper as some assumed the -ka ending was a familiar endearment, like Nachmanke, Moshek...

as hashem yaazor said, it seems there are two versions of the name riva.
1. one is a yiddish nickname for rivkah
2. one is a hebrew word for girl. look in the rashi where the posuk discusses the wickedness of sdom. hashem says: the cries have reached Me. Rashi says: the cries of a riva (girl) whom they killed in an unusual way.

Reva as a diminutive of Rivka is HEBREW. You can check the three sources I posted above.

Nickname for Rivka (with a hey) is "Hebrew" but not really any language, as nicknames don't mean anything for real....but it's from Hebrew, so we can leave it as is.
Little girl -- Reva with an aleph -- is not Hebrew. It's Aramaic.
Looks like Yiddish b/c it's an aleph, and it might have been common in Yiddish speaking communities as a name instead of Rivka, but the name itself doesn't appear to be Yiddish.
Whatever
