Itchy scalp - antibiotic side effect?

My six year old has been on antibiotics for an ear infection and has suddenly started scratching her head terribly. I cannot see any signs of lice, nits or dandruff, definitely not enough to cause such intense itching. Could this be a reaction to the antibiotics, even with no sign of rash?

I find that to help that I take and give my kids acidopholus when ever we take antibiotics
You need to take it at least an hour apart from antibiotic.
You can give it now even when not on it.
