so I recently read some rly scary stuff abt food coloring and I thought I ttly removed it from my diet and mostly removed it from my kids' and then im picking up a couple new containers of crystal light iced tea mix and I happen to notice the back and see that it has...red 40 and blue 6! help! this was my go-to drink...I cant drink water all day and my kids definitely cant...anyone know of any company that makes a similar mix that is food coloring free? or know of any other drink that is tasty, healthful and low in sugar and calories??
thanks muchly

lol. what did you think? the only way for something to be zero calories and colorful is chemicals and food coloring.

You and your kids can definitely learn to drink water.
If you must flavor it, use a small amount of juice and slowly reduce it until you're drinking just water.

well obviously the raspberry and punch ones I knew were colored but iced tea?? plenty of companies can make them without the coloring, why cant crystal light?? and did u knw that in countries in europe the same foods we enjoy here -same brands and everything-r colored naturally with beet juice and carotene and stuff because of stricter food laws??

I love when people have epiphanies and then assume everyone else was in the dark too...
So entertaining :-)

a jewish brand used to make a food coloring free cool aid. colors where a bit weird but taste was ok and it was pure sugar. I didn't see it in a long time.

make your own iced tea. a bunch of tea bags in a cup or two of hot water. allow to cool. add lemon slices and your preferred sweetener, or just add sweet fruit. dilute to taste.

Tons of regular food has food coloring; pickles, oranges, life cereal... To name a few
None of these NEED the coloring, it just makes it brighter and more enticing.
I give my kids the honest kids juice pouches for school and on Shabbos as a special treat we have snapple. It has a lot of sugar, but it does not have chemicals and artificial ingredients.

With the fake sugar and other chemicals, its the coloring you're worried about?

Try putting some fresh mint leaves or cucumber slices or orange slices in water. Get a Sodastream machine, making seltzer in it is so much fun that your kids probably won't mind that it's less like juice - and you can get flavoring for the seltzer that's natural and calorie free. Coconut water or Honest Kids pouches are also things to try.

Water with lemon. Or add some cucumber. Delicious, refreshing, nothing fake.

My kids drink homemade seltzer with a bit of juice, or I make "lemonade" with lemons and raw honey.
And plain water of course.

crystal lite makes a product called crystal light pure. It is naturally colored and flavored, and sweetened with stevia.
