this is the first year in a few that I actually made it past the first few nights! but it didnt last too long though, somewhere around the late teens I just couldnt remember anymore if I had counted the night before. every night I would sit for 10 min trying to remember if I had counted the night before, eventually I gave it up. 
oh well.

women are not OBLIGATED, but just like lulav - you can do it if you want and make a bracha
here's the system - remember for next year (also for other things you want to remember):
the key is - put the sefira chart or a note with a reminder, whatever, on your bed each morning (or a similar spot) so that you MUST ENCOUNTER IT BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP!
as far as not remembering if you counted or not - it helps to have those charts you can check off (unfortunately, no organization saw fit to send me one this year), because otherwise

Well this is pretty pathetic I have a reminder chart on my fridge.....so I guess that means I eat too much!hahahahaha
BH counting strong. I think what helped besides my DH is that I made a chart for my daughter & count with her every morning.

Why can't he remind you?
(maybe put up a little post-it note near your bed)
BH my dh reminds me, we usually do it together after he davens Maariv.
