Lost (not sure if it fits your criteria but its great!!!)
Brothers and sisters.
Orange is the new black.
Greys anatomy (I liked this but not other medical dramas like private practice, scrubs)

I'm not in the USA but I use an great free app called Hola that makes my tablet think it is. You can use it in reverse too. Uk Netflix has downton abbey on, or it did.

Op here.
Thanks all for the replies!
Gilmore girls and parenhood have the same character playing as the mom (forgot her name) and she is really annoying. I did check a few more episodes (in different seasons) on parenthood and the characters still rub me the wrong way. They act so awkward it drives me insane.

Last tango in halifax is sweet - not crazy about the show but its a start...

I guess im looking for a drama show that will keep me riveted and one that potrays deeper family feelings then just a good laugh.. like
reign, hart of dixie, reckless (even gossip girl which isnt my type)

Thanks so much everyone

Rookie Blue is really good. Good plots, likeable characters, with some really good romance mixed in.

Nu OP, did you check out Friday Night Lights yet? It's exactly what you keep saying you want!

I didn't find it very racy but I guess racy is a continuum. I found Orange Is the New Black INCREDIBLY racy, and same with the Tudors. Off-puttingly so.

Yes, sports is very involved but you don't have to understand football to follow it.

I promise, I don't get a commission. Lol

Op here.
I checked out greys anatomy anf it seems pretty interesting. The characters are normal, there is drama, the lighting is good and it actually keeps me riveted and interested.

friday night lights was ok...but the lighting looks like it takes place in the 60's. and they only focus on peoples faces so you dont get to see much of the scene.

As you can see, im hard to please.

Thanks guys! Hopefully I greys anatomy will keep me entertained for a while.. and thursday reign will be playing Smile and then switched at birth Smile

OP, do you have the account where you get disks, or just the basic? Right now I only have basic, but there are SO many things in my queue.

I searched "BBC", and found a whole bunch of clean shows that I've seen before.

Good Neighbors
Waiting for G-d
The Last of the Summer Wine
As Time Goes By
Sherlock Holmes (with Jeremy Brett)
To the Manor Born
Thin Blue Line
The Vicar of Dibley

None of these are historical dramas, and most of them are fairly contemporary. Most are mix of light romance and comedy (except Sherlock Holmes, of course.) Thin Blue Line is straight comedy, with lots of word play, but nothing outright bad.

All of the above are without zex scenes, and bare minimum of swearing. They are for the most part incredibly sweet, without any meanness to the story lines.

Warning: If you watch too much BBC, you might find yourself talking extra classy! Wink

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is fun. Its got romance, action, and comedy. A perfect blend. Lots of crosses though.
