I second the schools insurance to pay. They have insurance for that.
My dc tripped in school and needed stitches and the school told me right away that if my insurance doesn't cover a good dr. I should use their insurance.

My brother needed several hundred dollars worth of stitches after a classmate threw something at him on purpose. My parents did not ask them to pay; it was not worth the awkwardness etc

If it happened in school, can you ask the schools insurance to cover the cost?

My thoughts too! You may never know, if it was on school premises they might even be obligated to.

I broke ankle in camp and needed expensive surgery. There was a large balance after insurance. My mom got the camp to make a claim with their own insurance.
