Is ulpan usually every day of the week? I came with intermediate Hebrew, and I only had ulpan 2-3 times a week. I think only the lower levels have every day, but someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.
If ulpan would only be part of the week, maybe OP could find a part-time job babysitting on one or more of the other mornings.

All my friends who arrived with very low-level Hebrew attend ulpan 5-6 days/week, for 5 hours each day. Plus they get homework.
Maybe the program is less intense for more advanced classes, or maybe there are more slow-paced options.

Thanks- I knew I had fewer hours than some, but I didn't know what the norm was.

Haifa. You would still need to take a bus/train to the beach if you live in Neve Shaanan, but it's w/in the city.

Okay. After spending some time in Israel, we have realized that we need to have some English speakers in our town or City. We spent time in several different towns and realize that we will need help from other English speakers.
So, Modiin sounds great. But arw there areas of Modiin that are a but quieter and less city like? What can we expect to pay to rent a 3/4 bedroom apartment?
Any other moshavim, towns that have a good set. You for olim with older children? And near to high tech jobs?
Thanks all.
