If you "have to" use it, then use the person you're naming after as the meaning: ie, Esther Bracha would be "a blessing for Esther" (in being named after), not "hidden blessing" - Esther Chaya - "life for Esther" in having her name live on. Etc.
We nearly named our daughter Nechama Rus (my grandmother was Rus), and it wasn't "comfort friendship" or whatever Rus means, it was "comfort for Rus" that is, her neshama.
