Op please give more info. Where are they coming from? Kids? Ages? Some of these suggestions are pretty comical.

The Jewish children's museum in Crown Heights
Prospect Park, it has a small zoo
Pottery and ceramic painting in Flatbush
A walk across the Brooklyn bridge
Coney Island area : not sure if the amusement parks are open this time of year
The aquarium and beach
But keep in mind it's cold to do outdoor activities.
Palisades Mall has go cart racing, an indoor soft play area called BillyBeez up to age 12, an obstacle course that is four stories high
Central Park, to stroll , the zoo and I think they have an ice skating rink
None of these things are major but they are each enjoyable depending on the age

I enjoyed ice skating in bryant park way more than rockfeller. There's also the winter village there now (check dates from when to when) which was very interesting.

I second that. There's also a very interesting National Geographics exhibit that is open now. Really sounds fascinating.

Also check groupon you may be able to get fun tickets at a discount like pottery, paint night.. stuff like that. Brooklyn Bridge Park is really pretty as well. They can go ride the ferry to Governor's Island.. have a picnic there, and ride the ferry back.

I believe governor's island is only open from May 1 through October 31.

How old are your children and what type of exposure? Are the streets of Williamsburg going to be fascinating for them (as they are for me) or would they rather see Disney on Ice?

Oh, that might be. Sorry if that's the case.
But definitely don't rely on our words... check out any place online, or via phone to make sure you have the correct info.

Oh would you please tell me more, perhaps in a new thread so as to keep this thread on topic?
I always imagined KY is a shtetl. As well as New Square..Am I terribly misguided?

Lots of great suggestions. Another vote for Bryant Park ice skating. And walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. If your budget can afford it, a helicopter tour over the city would be very memorable. Also the Metropolitan Museum of Art if they're into that.
