This is by far my favorite thread here. I seriously never knew there were other crazy ppl like me and didn't dream to even ask!! I'm always mortified of my cleaning lady and scramble to throw out wrappers and bowls before she comes. I know-embarrassed of a goiyta is pretty comical-another passed down idiosyncrasy

Sneaking is a special talent honed by desperation. I've snuck plenty of food into my room as a teen

Are you and dh eating with them? That's the best way for them to learn adult manners. If it's not possible, and for some years it wasn't, when the kids were young and dh worked late, try reading to them as they eat. Everyone at the table is focused on the same thing, and you aren't getting up, because you are busy reading. |
You must have missed the "sometimes" in my post.

I love drinking my coffee propped up in bed. We are in the middle of renovation and seriously considering putting a mini fridge and hot water urn for coffee in my room.

You're right. My apologies.
But I stand by the idea that it's ideal for a family to sit and eat together, and that kids learn what they see. Seeing mom sneaking off to eat her treats alone doesn't set kids up for a healthy relationship with food.

Apologies accepted.
I agree with your idea - in an idealistic sense.
In any case, most kids don't see mom sneaking off to eat her treats because that defeats the purpose.
