Any recommendations? Teaneck or vicinity

looking for good food and nice ambience

Thanks!

Besides for the upscale places mentioned, for more casual I also like Noah’s Ark, Esti Hana, or Humble Toast.

ETC only has indoor. Maybe they had outdoor at one point, or they outdoor shared space with the doghouse?

You can also stop next door at the Dog House kosher bar for drinks before dinner.

Also, the owner of Nobo opened a more casual restaurant called Narruto Bowl.

I have been told that it is not the really same owner as they will not consider honoring my NoBo gift card☹️.

ETC is much more pricey and upscale than Esti Hana. There is also not much to eat other than steak if you go to ETC. I actually prefer Esti Hana.

There’s steak, chicken, and ribs.

There was nothing set up outdoors last night, unless they share outdoor space with the doghouse.

For more casual nice, lower price (no candle necessarily or table cloths) outdoor seating at Sushi Metsuyan or Dairy humble toast is nice.

Nobo's food was fabulous, but unfortunately closed.

Years ago went to etc, the food is nice, it's a fancy restaurant I enjoyed the ambiance very much.

IIRC, NOBO's owner now owns Naruto Bowl. Different vibe, but very good food. I believe they're running a meat buffet out of there on Thusdays and Sundays. No idea what the atmosphere is, but I'd bet the food is good.

But the go to would be ETC. Food is uniformly excellent, staff uniformly excellent and attentive.

Someone mentioned Mocha Bleu. I've given them a dozen chances, but I've never been happy.

Humble Toast is excellent, but not "date night" kinda place. Not sure about Sender's -- good food, but I've only done takeout (at others' homes, so I've never actually seen it). Has anyone been to La Cucina di Nava? I've heard good things, but no idea of atmosphere.

Maybe they brought it in because of the hurricane?

They had an outdoor setup in what used to be a narrow street next to the restaurant, that Teaneck allowed them to close off. It was a lovely setup with a tent, but open at all ends so it wasn't like dining indoors. And as many heaters as you wanted, as I'm always cold.

I don’t know, maybe. But the doghouse outdoor area was still set up.

I've never had a steak at ETC, and I've been there more than a dozen times.

In fact, even my vegetarian friends have enjoyed it.

Not a fan of Estihana. Its sort of like going to Chickies, or your local diner. You get a decent meal, but its nothing special. Not sure what they're doing now, but last time I was there, their outdoor space was awful. It was fully enclosed with a little gap at the top, serving no purpose at all. If I want outdoor seating, I want outdoor seating. If I'm going to sit indoors, I'd prefer to do it in comfort.
