Julia is beyond narcissistic and controlling.

She sends her girls to frum schools, then slowly but surely tells them not to live that despicable fundamentalist life.

She tells them to dump it for an almost no rules life.

The kids are living life riding a high speed cyclone, while not buckled, not knowing what shell come up with next.

Its a miracle the kids seem to be doing ok.

I have this crazy idea that the divorce is a ratings trick, and Batsheva will eventually leave the show too, to go back to her roots to some degree.

He changed alongside his wife, which was a choice that he made.
If he didnt want to stop being frum he should have grown a backbone, hes a grown man

Her family made fun of him that he still did some things religion wise.
He wanted kids, she didn't yet, and she wouldn't give a time frame for when she would have and how many.
She became a full time social media star and posts everything they do and wherever they go - he did express some unhappiness with this during the show. He wasn't comfortable with this lifestyle.

You can love and care about each other - but want to live different lives.

Maybe they're staying good friends and mutually made up that they want their lives to go in different directions.

I mean when I dated I said no to many people because we wanted different lives, hashkafically or just on a basic level - they wanted 15 kids or to host tons of people every shabbos, or to become a kiruv family, etc.

He still put on tefilin daily and she and her family mocked him for that. They said get rid of those old dusty boxes. He didn't want to eat pork necessarily and wanted to keep some semblance of shabbos I believe.

Also Bat's family told her many times to break up, they pressured her a lot. Her mother asked questions and prodded into their sx life.....her sister literally told Bat you're wasting your life being with this guy, and Bat was constantly defending her decision to stay with him.

I can totally see this happening.

In the very more to the left modern orthodox world his dress is a non issue, (just take a walk in any mo neighborhood- yarmulka for eating/shabbos etc...) Her family made her keeping kosher etc. an ISSUE I feel like there were more stuff he was uncomfortable giving up but just caved into pressure of being married that he just gave up fighting.. it actually happens to some couples who change over the course their marriage ...
His having to deal with all of that a total lifestyle shift and being on reality TV seemed to be torture..

So yaa BH! Very sad but it a new chance at freedom 😔
