If someone is doing something niche, for example using a accounting degree in Lakewood, or supervisor for one of the medical billing places, they can go well into the 6 figures. RN doing remote work for nursing homes pays well too.
Eta: I'm not saying it's common, I'm just addressing your comment that office jobs cqp at 50-60k, and saying higher salaries exist.

Also, I agree with the others saying what shes interested in.

Please advise what is/are the best jobs for a wife and mother who would like to be able to support the family.
Ideally not many years of schooling, but open to hearing any ideas that are realistic.
Taking for granted that the less hours the better- she would like to also be able to take off for a sick kid, be able to do as much dropoff/pickup as possible, and not be crazy stressed all the time.
People will say impossible, I know, but there are definitely those who BH do make it work so please advise what is the best hishtadlus!!

The job you should go into is the job that you will like, that uses your skills and talents.

Agree. It's most likely to advance in a job you like and that uses your skills.

CPA and kollel wife of over 20 years here. I haven't worked in tax since 2012; there are so many other things you can do. I work for a national public accounting firm that specializes in healthcare assurance and fraud investigation. I had a flexible work arrangement since my oldest was born but since COVID I basically work from home. I absolutely love it and feel I have bh a good work-life balance. I am vocal about this because people hear accounting and think immediately tax season and crazy schedules that a wife/mother can't maintain and they don't know there are plenty of other opportunities out there.

Where did you get this information? Because AFAIK, starting salary here is 50k, but 9 to 5. All the girls I speak to who are just starting out work 9 to 5.

The cap is much higher than that, especially bookkeeping or medical billing. Check the recruiting agencies ads, and you'll see.

I’m an SLP and work from home doing teletherapy. Regular school SLP jobs are terrible nowadays but teletherapy gives me good work life balance and pays pretty well through an agency and very well through contracts if you directly contract with districts that are desperate for SLPs (many are). But I’m not sure if NJ allows teletherapy.

I vote programming. It’s a flexible job - many ppl end up cutting their hours. You can take a boot camp in 9 months (some have self paced options so you can do it even shorter)
If you’re a hard worker and willing to work full time non Jewish companies pay a ton. Jewish companies don’t pay that bad either. Very easy job to work remote.

funny, because I was going to say definitely NOT speech! What company do you work for? are you an independent contractor? can I ask your hourly pay? because im a slp and definitely not making enough to support my husband. I went into the field thinking it would make a lot but it doesnt. Its definitely flexible which is great.... but flexible comes with other issues too

$85-$100/hour. If you’re willing to work west coast hours some places in California are paying $125/hour. This is contracting directly, not working for an agency.

My understanding is that the market is not that hot any more. Employers now have a choice of employees and the pay is no longer that high.

How does one find such a job? I’m working as a CPA in one of big 4 and it’s so hard tax season! Would love to switch.

That's correct. I think, as we see from this thread, in every industry there are those who make it and those who struggle. Those who find jobs with great flexibility and benefits and those who kill themselves to make it work. Go into a field that 'makes sense' and that uses skills you have and enjoy and daven that Hashem smooth the path for you.

Came here to say the same! Once you have some experience you can even find well paying jobs that aren't full time. It's also not just programming - data science, cyber security, consulting... there's a lot you can do with it. The boot camps are good but you can get a BA in computer science in a year that can get you further

The amother who voted programming- which course are you referring to? with one of the frum programs?
And can you make enough to support a family even with less hours than full time? (Let's say up to 25 hrs/wk) or its only a good job if you work many hrs?

I see a few people suggesting programming. I have a few questions- is it something you can start later in life? I am not happy in my field and want to switch, is it something that's really hard to start at age 40?both in terms of schooling and jobs?
Also- do you have to be a certain type to do well at this carreer? What type?
And is it easy to find part time work?

Also, do those in the programming field feel that it will remain a strong career in the long run, or demand will plummet due to AI?

Lakewood institute of technology is amazing. You can ask him about self paced and remote options lakewoodprogramming.com
I know someone who worked 32 hours a week and was told that with 4 years of experience they should be making 100k. This is third hand info tho… I work full time so I don’t really know salaries for part time…
