Am kind of out of ideas on this one (niether hubby nor I are big fish fans). I usually end up going with lots of salads and dips instead, but I would like something nice to be plated individually. Any suggestions?

You can plate egg salad (use a small ice cream scoop) or chopped liver spread (fried onions, liver and hard boiled eggs blenderized). We make buffalo chicken wings, which can be served on a plate if you like.

Mostly we do salads and dips though.

My friend took tortilla scoop chips, put one on a plate with ground beef inside, and served it with guacamole and fake sour cream. Delicious!

In general, you can plate nearly any salad or side dish, serve it at the beginning of the meal, and, BOOM - there's your appetizer.

Moshe B' Teivas - franks and blankets.

I once got those puff pastry cups and make a mushroom/onion (just sauteed mushrooms and onions and some spices - you can add whatever veggies or even meat/chicken) filling for them - it was delicious and pretty!

I also have made fruit soup as an appetizer when I had guests who didn't like fish. I've seen people do liver and/or egg salad. For my sheva brachos, my friends took won ton wrappers, baked them in a bowl shape and filled it with salad.

franks 'n blanks
salami in sauce on rice
cabbage, potato or meat knishes
Eggrolls
Fruit Soup
Chicken wan tons
deli roll
home made sushi (vegetables only)
Grilled chicken or meat salad

We almost never eat fish so I love having fun with appetizers.
I'm drawing a blank on the other stuff that I make.

moroccan meat turnovers from Kosher by Design Short on Time are really delicious & simple to make

Also, this salad is delicious & makes a great appetizer:

Grilled Chicken Breast Salad

Marinate chicken breasts:
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
4 T. brown sugar
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/4 cup ketchup

Cut each chicken cutlet into 3 or 4 strips. Combine above ingredients & pour over chicken cutlets. Refrigerate several hours or overnight, if you have the time. Grill or bake chicken breasts (I always bake them, covered with aluminum foil, at 350 degrees for about 1/2 hour-40 minutes. I bake them in the marinade.) When the chicken is cool, cut into strips.

Salad Dressing:
1/2 cup low fat mayo
1 tsp. garlic powder
few shakes black pepper
3-4 T. water

Salad:
romaine lettuce
craisins
grape tomatoes

Mix salad with dressing and top with the chicken.

My friends mom makes chicken nuggets and mini hotdogs with like a sweet and sour sauce and the adults like it better then the kids. Not the healthiest I know but really good. Also I had a mini deli roll one week that I thought was such a great idea. Each person got their own.

I make mushroom crepes all the time (it's really really not hard), or even beef kebabs served with rice and plum sauce or hummous on the side is good too.
My kids hate gefilte fish, so I'm always looking for different ideas too.

I was thinking about mini deli rolls today. I have never seen it, trying to figure out how it would work.

What would you do- just cut the pastry dough down to size and make them in mini? How large is a portion? Does it look nice? Has anyone ever done it?
